A little Microsoft based development news to kick start your weekend. CollabNet,
a provider of Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) solutions, has
just announced the second version of CollabNet Desktop—Visual Studio
Working Within the Visual Studio IDE
With this integration, Visual Studio developers have access to two tools from within the Visual Studio IDE:
- CollabNet TeamForge:
An ALM platform that provides capabilities such as software version
control, bug tracking, requirements management, release packaging and a
number of collaboration tools.
- Subversion: A
software configuration management (SCM) tool. Using it you can view the
status of source code, update a Subversion working copy, commit changes
and browse repositories from Visual Studio directly.
CollabNet Desktop - Subversion
To go along with the new release, CollabNet is offering 2.5 hours of
free web-based training of CollabNet Desktop to registered members of
the Open CollabNet community. Registration is free, so if you aren't signed up, head over and do so.
The current version of CollabNet Desktop is available for download now (open source). Version 2, which is compatible with Visual Studio 2010, will be available when CollabNet TeamForge 5.3 is released in December, 2009.
For those who use Eclipse as their IDE, there is also an open source version of CollabNet Desktop for Eclipse.
